A potpourri of papers originally delivered at a celebration of Hans Seyle's sixtieth birthday. They range in quality from a solid and sober assessment of recent developments in calcitonin to highly speculative interpretations of studies in pharmacological pathology.
This collection may be of interest to ardent disciples of the Selye school, but it is not likely to "take its place among the 'classics' in medicine," to "find daily use by physicians," or to be "invaluable to nearly everyone engaged in the practice of medicine" as promised by the puffery on the dust jacket.
