The book edited by Pulec is based on a symposium held at the Mayo Clinic in October 1967; its chapters encompass pathology, physiology, natural history, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment. Despite its origin at a symposium, it serves very well as an authoritative monograph, in part because of its provision of bibliographies and an index.
Harrison and Naftalin's monograph is a shorter, smaller book that covers most of the same topics but includes a historical sketch of Prosper Menière. It offers a more coherent, unified presentation due to its restricted authorship.
