The singular contribution of this volume on motility of the alimentary canal is the orderly, comprehensive, current, and competent manner in which the information is collated and presented. The opening chapter, written by Dr. Walter C. Alvarez, is a delightful historical reminiscence on the development of methodology appraising gastrointestinal motility.
