When all of its projected 19 volumes have been published, the Encyclopedia of Medical Radiology will be the most comprehensive handbook of diagnosis and therapy in this growing field of specialization. The volumes have been appearing in irregular sequence and some of the contributions that were submitted several years ago are no longer up to date at the time of publication. In most instances this is of no consequence, but in areas of rapidly advancing knowledge, this is a disadvantage. The contributions come from outstanding radiologists and appear either in English or German—somewhat limiting the general usefulness of the project.
