Bronchoscopy has provided an important and indispensable tool in the study of thoracic disease. It provides information that is unobtainable in any other way. The training necessary to become a good bronchoscopist necessarily is highly individualized because of the nature of the examination making it inconvenient for the teacher to instruct more than one student at a time.
