The stated aim of the Contemporary Neurology Series is to discuss recent scientific developments that promise to aid in the understanding, diagnosis, or treatment of neurological disease with a view to synthesizing new fundamental knowledge that may be applied to patient care. The authors of this monograph have drawn on their extensive clinical and laboratory experience with seizure disorders to produce a monograph that fulfills these aims. The classification of seizures and the clinical manifestations of seizures are clearly presented. The chapter on diagnostic evaluation of the seizure patient provides sound advice and guidelines as to when particular diagnostic studies
