DAVID W. FRASER
To the Editor: I was most interested in the article by Davidson, Leibel, and Berris (1) entitled "Asymptomatic Parotid Gland Enlargement in Diabetes Mellitus" (Ann. Intern. Med. 70: 31, 1969). Their finding of parotid enlargement in patients with subclinical diabetes deserves emphasis.
I was surprised, however, by the authors' statement that they could find no well-documented reports of biopsies of enlarged parotids in diabetes. A biopsy of this man's left parotid showed enlargement of the acinar cells
