Sadly, the third volume of the Heffter-Heubner series on adrenocortical hormones begins with a tribute by Ray Greep to the late Helen Wendler Deane. To a reader who has watched the growth of this series from drawing board to finished product, the fact that Helen Deane cannot see the final result of her devoted work is an especially melancholy one.
The present volume maintains the high standards of meticulous scholarship set in the previous two volumes. Each of the authors has attempted to review the world literature of his subject with the curious result that the reader often puts down
