To the Editor: The answer to Question #700 of the ACP's series (Ann. Intern. Med. 70: 750, 1969) is incorrect. The report of the Subcommittee of the American Heart Association in Circulation 36: 980, 1967, describes the proper technique for recording indirect blood pressure. Correlation of this technique is found in many studies, including that by Freis and Sappington in Circulation 38: 1085, 1968. As presented, there does not appear to be a correct answer among the letter-code choices. Moreover, the reference quoted to support the answer does not seem to describe the measurement of blood pressure.
