The physiologist's and the surgeon's introductions by Professors Mayerson and Kinmonth properly assess Professor Földi's monograph as a pioneering effort to present to the clinician the relationship of the functions and dysfunctions of the lymph vascular system to disease states. Thus, the monograph does not primarily describe diseases of the lymphatics and lymph circulation as the title implies. Professor Földi recounts the rebirth of interest in lymphology in his extraction from the world's literature knowledge about the lymph vascular system which has significance for the practicing physician.
In the first three chapters, liberal references to Starling's work are blended with
