The nuffield unit of Medical Genetics has combined with the Oxford University Press to offer a clinically oriented review of selected areas in medical genetics. Seven major topics are covered with the primary focus the understanding of genetic mechanisms as they apply to present-day clinical problems.
The introductory chapter, "Pitfalls and Problems in Genetic Studies," should be required reading for any investigator embarking on family studies. "Linkage and Association" reviews the present evidence for chromosomal linkage between six pairs of genetic markers and discusses the possible association between other autosomal genes. "Pharmacogenetics" is concisely and interestingly covered by D. A.
