Dr. Fowler, together with eight authors of contributed chapters, has undertaken to compile a detailed approach to modern cardiac diagnosis aimed primarily at the general practioner and internist. In large measure, he has been successful in achieving this goal, and the volume contains a wealth of information concerning cardiac diagnosis which also will be of great interest to postdoctoral trainees in cardiology and internal medicine.
The initial chapters, which include a brief but reasonably adequate discussion of normal cardiac physiology, review basic diagnostic methods such as auscultation, indirect pulse wave analysis, and radiography. There is an extremely complete chapter on
