The recent technical advances in clinical pulmonary physiology have been supported by several excellent textbooks and treatises of American and British origins. The current volume reviews basic principles and many standard techniques, and also reflects the experience and approach of its Hungarian authors. The presentation is arranged in three sections:  Basic Fundamentals: Basic physiology and pathophysiologic mechanisms are dealt with in a brief introduction;  Methods: This comprehensive section constituting approximately one half of the volume includes analytical information from simple spirometry to radioisotope applications. Its content would be chiefly of interest to those concerned with the practical details
