To the editor: It has been so long since some of the fundamental facts pertaining to tuberculosis were established that they apparently have not come to the attention of all physicians. For example, in an article by Dr. William W. Stead and coauthors entitled "The Clinical Spectrum of Primary Tuberculosis in Adults. Confusion with Reinfection in the Pathogenesis of Chronic Tuberculosis" (Ann Intern Med 68:731-745, 1968) reference is not made to the thoroughly documented work on pathogenesis by eminent physicians who demonstrated that the clinical type of tuberculosis is caused by endogenous reinfection (1).
