The critical analysis of arterial flow before and after corrective surgery for arteriosclerosis obliterans has been a neglected field. The importance and value of such studies are emphasized in this monograph, which is primarily a compilation of the author's 10 years of experience in the field. The initial chapters relate to the pathology and physiology of arteriosclerotic obstructive disease of the lower extremities. However, the major portion of the text is discussion of the application of techniques such as plethysmography, indicator-dilution methods, electromagnetic flow meter, ultrasonic and isotope clearance studies during exercise, as well as preand postoperative evaluation studies.
