A detailed, large, German textbook, with presentation organized by systems and etiologic groups. Compared to most similar American texts, more generously and effectively illustrated, with some color figures for hematology and infectious disease. The chapter on genetics by Lentz is notably good, and the detailed chapter on poisoning has no counterpart in similar American texts. A detailed appendix gives normal values in clinical pathology, and a listing of drugs with German prices and dosage units.
For German-reading physicians will serve the same purposes as the Harrison and the Beeson-McDermott textbooks.
