Mr. Eastcott has the distinction to be one of the group of outstanding surgeons that developed the surgery of arterial disease to its present state. He is modest about his own contributions, but his writing shows him to be an experienced, knowledgeable, and compassionate surgeon—and physician. He wrote his book on arterial surgery with the general surgeon in mind, but he hopes that it may be also useful to the general physician. It should be so, for the physician who is well aware of the advantages and limitations of modern surgery can best serve his patient with vascular disease. The
