The author has shown a talent for condensing a potential 3-pound volume of information into what we have come to regard as "core" material on disorders of the thyroid gland. It is an art to be clear, concise, and accurately informative in writing without being too superficial or dogmatic. Overall, a reasonable course has been steered between superficiality and dogma for such a small monograph on such a large subject.
In the acknowledgements on page v, he unfortunately asks for a duel about the concepts expressed. It sets a defensive and pugnacious tone before the reader has reached the first
