The stated purposes of the author were to review the literature on this question up to 1968, to show the effect of oral contraceptives on the woman as a total being, to evaluate the reports including also the views of evaluation committees, and to make recommendations for practicing physicians. Unfortunately studies on this subject are appearing rapidly; and this small book with less than 50 pages of text does not provide either the integration of subject matter intended or, through no fault of the authors, the results of the latest studies completed in 1969, including the Food and Drug Administration's
