Based on a detailed study of 140 patients, this slender volume promises to look into the diagnosis, etiology, treatment, and prognosis of anorexia nervosa. An enormous amount of information is presented, much of which could have been extremely useful to the clinician and the serious investigator had sufficient care been taken in the extraction of its meaning. As it is, serious limitations in the statistical methods used make it difficult to rely on most of the findings. The result is that the book is a rich source of information about the many major and minor symptoms and signs of anorexia
