In contrast to the ever increasing number of unnecessary, poorly conceived, and badly written texts, this book is instructive, timely, well organized, and easy to read. The authors (21 surgeons, 3 obstetrician-gynecologists, and 2 anesthesiologists, all from Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta) seem eminently qualified to write on their subjects.
Whereas most books on trauma emphasize skeletal injuries, this one gives detailed information on the care of patients with injuries to the thoracic and abdominal viscera. Additionally, it assembles in one volume material that otherwise would have to be gleaned from numerous sources. Particularly interesting and worthwhile is the
