To the editor: C. R. Hayman in his editorial discussion of sexual assaults on women and girls (Ann Intern Med 72:277-278, 1970) states that the risk of pregnancy and gonorrhea is small, as low as 1:50 to 1:200. Although from his sentence we could not be sure whether he considers the odds of impregnation after rape the same as those of acquiring venereal disease, they do not seem small to us, and it is curious to us that he recommends prophylactic antibiotic therapy against the venereal disease but does not recommend an anti-implantation prescription.
