The author's forwarding remarks in large part attest to the character of the book; however, the word "Epidemiology" appearing in the title is misleading. Whereas it is correctly stated that the book is offering ". . . a highly individual interpretation of the state of the art," the title would have been of greater service to the reader had the word 'interpretation' been substituted in favor of the word 'epidemiology.'
Before examining that suspicion, it should be noted that the author cannot be faulted in his bibliographic scholarship. His preparation of 412 references centering on the epidemiologic and clinical efforts
