The contents, in rough order, cover physiology, diagnostic procedures, symptoms, specific diseases or organ disorders, and gastrointestinal disease related to diseases of other systems. In attempting to cover all of gastroenterology the editor has ranged far and wide in medicine and brought in not only a large number of gastroenterologists but also experts in lung, cardiovascular, neurologic, obstetric, psychologic, and urologic medicine and even a medical historian.
