In the 20 years that have elapsed since the first edition of this book was issued, progress in nuclear medicine has been so swift that preparation of a text in this rapidly growing field is not an easy task. This book does not, in fact, provide an exhaustive survey of the field. Indeed, almost two fifths of it is devoted to biomedical aspects of nuclear warfare and fallout.
