With the apparent progressive increase in the prevalence of liver disease, changes in hepatic ultrastructure are receiving more attention. Among the recent books on the subject is this monograph, whch is in reality two books—pictures and text.
The electron micrographs constitute a useful atlas of hepatic ultrastructure. The photographs are technically excellent, the fields have been carefully selected, and the reproduction is handsome. The normal liver is very well illustrated. The hepatocyte, biliary system, and various types of sinusoidal cells are presented, together with shorter sections on other portions of the liver.
