The author's thesis is that amyloidosis is one of the most frequent conditions in human and animal pathology. The book begins by introducing the reader to the author's concept of the major role played by amyloidotic infiltration of diverse organs in the pathogenesis of the elicit process referred to as "aging" or "senile" decline. There is an excellent, lengthy, opening historical view of the amyloidosis literature followed by a section devoted to the occurrence of amyloid deposits in aged man and animals. This section is illustrated by many micrographs of excellent quality, a large number of which are in color.
