For anyone with an interest in diuretics and their efects on the kidney, this bilingual volume is an exceptionally good reference. Outstanding investigators in the fields of renal physiology and experimental pharmacology have contributed 12 chapters, 6 of which are written in English. Included in the chapters in English are extensive and thorough reviews of the basic pharmacology of carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, thiazide diuretics, furosemide, and ethacrynic acid. There are also brief chapters in English on glucocorticoids as diuretics and on the inhibitors of corticoid biosynthesis.
