The 1962 Report of the Royal College of Physicians on Smoking and Health set in motion the partially successful effort to abate the health hazards of cigarette smoking. The report was noted for its objectivity, thoroughness, and lucidity.
Cigarette smoking and community air pollution are widely known to interact in the production of respiratory disease and disability. Unfortunately most of the measurements, agencies, and scientists involved in these two issues are isolated from each other.
This brief report on air pollution and health tends to overcome this isolation and presents clearly from the British point of view the relationship of
