Although good things are said to come in small packages, and this volume is both small and has a somewhat intriguing title, I can find no other qualities that would justify recommending it for purchase or reading. It is a collection of brief essays, differential diagnoses, and various statements on cause and pathogenesis of diseases (acromegaly, Addison's disease), laboratory phenomena (hypoglycemia), physical signs (liver enlargement, splenomegaly), and system disturbances (bone system disease, "rheumatics"). These are organized alphabetically but in no other logical form. Style is informal and frequently antecdotal, with a sprinkling of Scandinavian name-dropping that would be unlikely to
