Knowledge in the fields of genetics and metabolism has proliferated at an astonishing rate in the past few years. It is not surprising then that the physician attempting to keep abreast in these fields is likely to become frustrated. The new sixth edition of Duncan's Diseases of Metabolism should help to relieve some of the frustration. With new editors and a completely new group of contributors this standard text has been reorganized to encompass expanding knowledge of molecular genetics and biochemistry as they relate to clinical disease.
