This edition retains the unique status of its predecessors, representing the only significant compilation of experimental pathologic data available. In its broad scope, general concepts, and as a review it is suitable for students and teachers of pathology. Still, this type of work must fall victim to the rapid development of new findings and the specific interests of its authors. Thus, many of its chapters have not incorporated many recent and striking discoveries that fall within their scope. For example, the long chapter on healing manages to avoid almost all concepts of macromolecular synthesis or the hypothesis of chalone control
