An attempt to write a brief monograph on the mechanism and management of headache is a difficult undertaking; for the most part, in this well-written text the author has succeeded. The first five chapters cover the causes and classification of headache as well as the history and physical examination of the headache patient. The scope of the text necessarily limits the amount of detail presented, and the reader looking for more depth must turn to the references.
