In the words of the author, "it could not be claimed that a new book on antibiotics fills a long-felt need." But his effort to provide a book with more than usual clinical emphasis is laudable. Part I is introduced by informative chapters on the principles of antibiotic use and chemotherapeutic mechanisms and then provides a fairly routine description of the major antimicrobials. A clinical orientation is maintained by including a section on clinical applications and toxicity in each of the chapters.
Part II considers the antibiotic management of selected subjects and was not intended to provide a comprehensive discussion
