To summarize the recent developments in antitumor and antiviral substances is a formidable task. To remain true to the aims of the series "Recent Results in Cancer Research," of which this thin monograph forms a part, the author has attempted a comprehensive survey of the subject. It is necessarily synoptic, and the 50 pages of text read like a chapter from an "Annual Review."
After a short introduction and discussion of the design of screening programs, materials of microbial, plant, marine, animal, and "other" sources are listed alphabetically. Selections from papers in each area are cited, and the status of
