The second of two volumes, this compendium covers birds (128 pages: 4 chapters, 3 authors), mammals (638 pages: 17 chapters, 19 authors), and general aspects of diagnosis and prophylaxis (50 pages: 2 chapters, 2 authors). Chapters are extremely variable in quantity, quality, and format. For instance, the chapter on trichomonads is 82 pages (exhaustive) whereas that on amebas (one of the best) is 30 pages. There are 2 chapters on malaria: 1 on the disease in primates (26 pages), the other in lower animals (38 pages). The references are extensive, and complete citations are provided.
