The editor and principal author, Dr. Schneeberg, states in the preface to this textbook that it has been designed for the medical student, the resident, or the practicing physician who seeks a didactic introduction or a brief review of clinical endocrinology. For the most part the volume accomplishes the stated goal. In so doing, it avoids both the elaborate bibliographic documentation and extensive development of controversial discussions that characterize the larger and heavier textbooks of endocrinology. In essence, this is a "little textbook of endocrinology."
Its organizational sequence includes chapters on neuroendocrinology, the pituitary, the thyroid, the adrenal, and the
