It seemed highly unlikely to me that the authors could cover so vast a general subject as hematologic problems in surgery in 238 pages of text. They cover the subject, however, and do it very well indeed, albeit with various omissions as noted below. The chapters are contributed by different authors, primarily anesthesiologists and surgeons (author Erichson is a hematologist), and hence there is an expected amount of repetition and unevenness of writing. This, however, does not detract from the overall value of the book.
