Many books concerned with endocrine function tests and procedures dwell excessively on chemical methods, which are usually of little interest to the practicing clinician. The primary aim of Dr. Atria's book is to present a fundamental understanding of the physiology and chemistry of the endocrine system, with emphasis on the use of the hormonal methods generally available for a functional and clinical evaluation. There is little discussion of chemical methods and techniques per se, except to describe the basic principles of certain methods.
