As with any book derived from a seminar and presenting the edited offerings of 82 authors, there is considerable variation in quality, although surprisingly little overlapping of subject matter. The title is misleading in that it suggests a text on methods and laboratory toxicology. Actually, a broad range of laboratory, clinical, and investigative toxicology is covered, including excellent discussions and reviews of fetal pharmacology and toxicology, carbon monoxide poisoning, and both acute and chronic toxic nephropathies.
The book is divided into four parts. "General Toxicologic Considerations" deals in general terms with modes of action, genetic implications, metabolism and excretion, and
