In compiling their data on physician manpower in the Tri-State Regional Medical Program area of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, the authors have viewed available information in every conceivable manner. They have related physician age to type of practice, type of practice to location of practice, location of practice to degree of specialization, and so forth. The format is a combination of tabular and textual, with concentration on the former. It is a reordering of AMA data on physician manpower for 1968.
The message of the report is clear and strikes the reader in a dozen different ways—that is,
