Our broad knowledge of diabetes mellitus and the extent to which the disease influences the lives of many individuals, taking the place of tuberculosis and syphilis a few decades ago, is well-illustrated by the 1,000 pages of this subspecialty text that contains a minimum of overlapping material and unnecessary information.
