The difficulties involved in writing and organizing a multispeciality text on any subject, and particularly medical emergencies, are probably as great as attempting a fair review. The contents of this book reveal its scope; for example: surgical emergencies; pediatric emergencies; psychiatric, dermatological, tropical, air, sea, and underwater emergencies; anesthetic and dental emergencies, and so forth. There are 24 chapters, each written by a specialist in his particular field. Obviously, with this specialized material it is difficult for one reviewer to have enough knowledge to be able to analyze each and every chapter. Nevertheless, some conclusions can be drawn.
