The authors have based this monograph on lung scan soundly on anatomic, physiologic, and pathologic foundations. Consequently, the reader will have an excellent review of these principles while learning about the usefulness and interpretations of lung scans. The text is amply documented with current references so that in the area of lung ventilation and perfusion, particularly as it applies to diseases such as asthma, emphysema, and pulmonary emboli, the reader is well briefed on the basic pathophysiology for understanding the contribution of the lung scan.
