Well-meaning in design but anecdotal in character, Hi, Sugar! relates a 35-year experience with insulin-dependent diabetes. Published posthumously, the author, by reminiscing about her own problems with diabetes, strives to show all diabetics how to live with and adjust to their diabetes. Concomitantly she passes on technical information about diabetes that she acquired from professionals, paramedical people, and reference material. Much of the text is accurate, although personal bias sufficiently skews the emphasis to make the manuscript inordinately subjective.
Hi, Sugar! is no substitute for the several technical books available for the diabetic. A reasonably sophisticated patient might enjoy reading
