This new text by Gordon and Ford covers a very wide scope of material with a relatively high degree of accuracy and clarity. It integrates clinical and basic aspects into a coordinated whole and makes excellent use of diagrams and tables to illustrate details and classifications and complex material and methods.
The authors, however, tend to single out contributions of selected groups of investigators, totally ignoring others. A number of clinical points, especially regarding classification and treatment of paraproteinemias, are expressed rather dogmatically and may not agree with those of most workers.
