Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a major health problem in this country and is assuming progressively increasing importance in the well-being and productivity of our population, as is amply documented in the opening chapter of Dr. Belinkoff's book. The author presents a detailed approach to the prevention and therapy of obstructive lung disease that should be of great value to both laymen and paramedical personnel. Since his approach has used an elementary viewpoint to communicate with those who do not have a detailed medical background, the usefulness of this book to physicians is limited, although it does provide a comprehensive
