There are some conferences that produce good books, and this is one of them. Perhaps it represents the coming of age of the subject of vascular disease in the abdomen. The 3-day conference held 1 year ago was divided into six sections: anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the mesenteric circulation; radiologic aspects of mesenteric vascular disease; experimental aspects of the mesenteric circulation and effects of mesenteric ischemia; experimental aspects of the mesenteric circulation; diagnosis and treatment of alterations and flow, vascular disorders of the small bowel; and vascular disorders of the colon.
