Dr. Freedman, with the assistance of Drs. Gold, Hawkins, and Shuster, has provided us with a refreshing addition to the rapidly increasing number of textbooks on clinical immunology. The authors have indeed been successful in their attempt to "bring recent progress in experimental immunology to the bedside in a manner that is both useful and comprehensible." Within the first 57 pages of the first chapter, "The Biology of the Immune Response," they provide an accurate and reasonable updated review of basic modern cellular and humoral immunology.
