Renewed interest in cardiac arrhythmias has followed the successful application of synchronized direct-current countershock for the reversion of arrhythmias and, more recently, the demonstration of the importance of arrhythmias as complications of acute myocardial infarction. Dr. Bilitch has written a practical book outlining the generally accepted principles of diagnosis and management of cardiac arrhythmias. Most sections are easily understood and the illustrations well chosen and reproduced. The section on pacemakers is concise and well done and fills a real need.
